A dangerous encounter with a cat

A dangerous encounter with a cat
by Benny Ng

I almost lost my life. I just managed to scrap
off being sent to the gallows by a most deceiving cat.
The experience was harrowing. Yet, somehow,
I survived this horror story. Just recalling the events
that happened, I shudder upon the recollection
of such unpleasantness, Even if being pierced by a
knife to my rib cage, it would only seem like a
fraction of the trauma (pain or terror is also fine)
I had been through.

I recall it was mid week, a Wednesday
morning when this incident took place. I was busy
with my usual routine - having to go to the wet
market across my block to buy some groceries.
And no surprises, I took my usual route to the
market. However, on my way there that particular
Wednesday morning, I spotted a black cat rampaging
through the garbage from afar. The cat was making
loud growls and tossing all the garbage messily
on the floor around the bin. It was as if the cat was
looking for something. Something. But a cat?
And with such urgency? I felt something was
amiss. I felt like the cat was trouble. Something
at the back of my mind just kept telling me that.
Therefore, although filled with curiosity, I
forced myself to stop probing into the cat's
business and walked away. I even changed my
route to the market just so to avoid the cat.
As the saying goes, it is better to stay out of
harm's way.

... ... ... ... ...
Rest of the story shall be revealed later.
